Our Story
My favorite picture on the bookshelf in my office was taken in front of my parent’s house in 1994. My sisters, cousins, and I are decked out in Argentina soccer jerseys and holding a VERY long handwritten sign that reads “VAMOS!!! VAMOS!! ARGENTINA!!!!!!”. We were on our way to see Diego Maradona—El Pibe de Oro—and the Argentina national team take on Greece in the opening round of World Cup ’94. Argentina went on to win 4-0. Needless to say, I was hooked on soccer right then and there, and to this day there’s no time I feel more Argentinian than when I’m singing songs with fellow fans supporting the Albiceleste!
Many of my fondest memories of growing up were set in Buenos Aires. Everything was familiar enough there, but at the same time just a touch different, and it was all very exhilarating. I remember the playgrounds having different features than those back home, the jugeterías carrying toys I had never seen before, and most importantly, Argentina had dulce de leche, alfajores, mecanos, and a plethora of other sweets and treats that were unheard of back in the States.
My parents were born, raised, and married in Buenos Aires, and moved to Boston, Massachusetts shortly thereafter. My early ski days were spent on the hills in central New Hampshire, like Cranmore, Attitash, and Waterville Valley. I still fondly remember the stiff paper and faded ink on my lift passes that would accumulate on my winter jackets for months, getting thicker each time another adhesive was layered on top. As soon as I could, I joined a ski club with friends and explored Vermont, Maine, and the other ski areas around New England. Things only accelerated from there once my friends and I could drive ourselves.
After I moved to Florida, I had to make a concerted effort to get my ski days in every season. Fortunately, one of my friends had moved to Denver around that time and was a welcoming host. I took full advantage of his hospitality, and began meeting him and a rotating cast of characters each year for ski adventures, and I’ve basically spent every year since trying to figure out how to get more days on the slopes. If you’re reading this, I suspect you can relate.
Several years ago, it finally clicked. I needed to connect two key aspects of my identity—my love of skiing and my Argentinian roots. While I relished the fact that I could get considerably more ski days by adding a “second winter” to my calendar, I knew there was something bigger and more important that I wanted to do. I want to bring people together from the two countries I call home through skiing and sharing authentic cultural experiences.
Why S2S
We’re Experienced Ski Travelers and Know the Key Elements to Make Every Ski Vacation a Success
When traveling for skiing you can never guarantee good conditions and weather, but what you can do is play the odds and do everything else in your control to avoid running into obstacles. At S2S, we know what to look for in our destinations, and what’s more we know where to stay, how to manage logistics, identify problems before they happen, and how to react when things don’t go according to plan. We’ve taken tours ourselves to ensure each stop and experience is authentic and worthwhile. We want you to fall in love with Argentina, and we’ve set up the best trip possible to ensure you do!
While the ski experience is always dependent on the weather and timing, we like to play the odds and only travel to locations that get the most snowfall and only travel during peak season. Moreover, we know that skiing the appropriate terrain for any level of skier has a huge impact on their experience.
In Buenos Aires we’ve carefully chosen what’s included in your tour in order to ensure we visit deserving tourist hotspots, but also give you time to choose your own adventures. Buenos Aires is a great city to wander around and just “feel” how different it is, but we’re also ready to help you customize your trip with specific activities if you’d like.
While we’re big soccer fans and would love to take you to a game and cheer alongside the most passionate fans in the world, we can also suggest and arrange for additional tours focused on architecture, history, or visiting other areas nearby.
